William F Gloe

William Floyd Gloe, 88, of Moline, IL, passed away Saturday, July 23, 2022, at ProMedica in Davenport, IA.

Per his wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. Visitation will be Friday, July 29, 2022, from 4-6 pm. at Wendt Funeral Home, Moline. Inurnment will be at St. Mary's at a later date. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

William was born on June 6, 1934, in Davenport, IA, to Floyd and Fern (Hileman) Gloe. On November 15, 1958, he married Beverly Shepherd at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Rock Island. She preceded him in death on November 26, 2012.

He graduated from Davenport High School, class of 1952, and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1953 to 1957. He was a self-employed carpenter working for himself and other contractors, specializing in trim work.

William enjoyed crossword puzzles and traveling to Colorado and Michigan with his family.

Survivors include his children, Karen Coats, Bettendorf, IA, Gregg Gloe, Moline, IL, and Stephanie Gloe, Davenport, IA; grandchildren, Samantha (Connor) Strait, Madrid, IA, Alex Coats, Bettendorf, IA, and Katharine Coats, Davenport, IA; and great-grandson, Gunner Strait.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and son-in-law, Tom Coats.
