Memorials can be made to the First Baptist Church in Moline or to Youth Hope in Moline.
Warren was born April 11, 1928, in Frankford, MO, to Raymond & Edna (Inlow) Cook. He graduated from Vandalia High School in 1945. When he was 18, he enlisted in the Army and was sent to Japan. This was quite a change for a Missouri farm boy, driving a truck in a foreign country—and on the left side of the road.
After the Army, he worked for Mpls-Moline, CBQ Railroad, and then Alcoa for 33 years, retiring in 1989. In his retirement years, he always said that one goal was to have as many retirement years as he did Alcoa years.
He married Zora Kimmel in Moline on December 13, 1951. (From that time on, he considered 13 to be his lucky number). They had three children: Shane Cook, Ankeny, IA; Darvi (Norman) Brown, Bettendorf, IA; Stefan (Veda) Cook, Renton, WA.
He enjoyed early morning walks, reading, puzzles, and time on the computer.
They traveled to many countries and States. They were both members of the First Christian Church, Moline, for 66 years, during which he served as an Elder. After it closed, they attended First Baptist Church, Moline. He was a member of Toastmasters, Moline. Both Warren and Zora were involved in Rental Real Estate.
He is survived by his children, grandchildren: Mike, Shawn, and Ryan Cook, and Gabe Preston, and great-grandchildren: Luke and Maddox Cook.
He is preceded in death by his wife (Zora), his parents, and his brother Edward Cook.
Family and friends are invited to share memories and express condolences on his Memory Page at Wendtfuneralhome.com.
