Susan Anderson passed away peacefully on April 22, 2026, at UnityPoint Trinity Hospital in Rock Island, Illinois. Born on October 23, 1948, to James T. and Judith McLaughlin in Moline, Illinois, Susan's life was marked by a profound commitment to education, a vibrant personality, and a deep love for those close to her.

Susan graduated from the Villa de Chantal in Rock Island in 1966. She continued her studies at Loretto Heights College in Denver, Colorado, graduating in 1970. She then obtained a master's degree from George Washington University in Washington, DC. She became a French teacher at a high school in Maryland and later taught French at the Villa de Chantal. Susan also provided private tutoring at Alleman High School, inspiring many students throughout her career. 

Her memory will be lovingly preserved by her husband, Curtis, to whom she was married on September 17, 1977. She is also survived by her sons, Timothy Curtis Anderson of Seattle, and Thomas Brooke Anderson of Chicago. Her survivors also include: Candace McLaughlin, Kate and Greg Swanson, Carrie McLaughlin, Murrie and Nick Chirekos, and Jim and Gretchen McLaughlin. She is survived by many nieces and nephews. Susan was preceded in death by her parents, James T. and Judith McLaughlin. 

A private family burial service to honor Susan’s life will be held at Calvary Cemetery in Rock Island, Illinois.
