Russell H. Mason, 96, of Moline, IL, died Saturday, October 6, 2012 at Trinity Medical Center in Rock Island, IL. Visitation will be Monday, October 8th, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline. Services will be Tuesday, October 9th, at 11:00 a.m., at the funeral home. Burial will be in Moline Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimers Association, 736 Federal Street #2318, Davenport, IA 52803. Russell was born July 27, 1916, in Ames, IA, to Oizi and Nettie Mason. He married his loving wife, Mary, 74 years ago, on May 29, 1938. He was a long-time co-owner of the LeClaire Friendly Service in Moline. For over 60 years, he was a member of the First Congregational Church in Moline, and was a 67-year member & 32-degree Mason, in Moline Lodge #1014. He was a lifetime member, and a recipient of the Hixson Award, of the Moline Kiwanis Club. In addition to his wife, Mary, survivors include, son: Robert (Barbara) Mason of Johnson City, TN; grandsons: Christopher (Debbi) Mason of Aurora, IL, and Noel (Debra) Mason of Wheaton, IL; and three beautiful great-grandchildren: Samuel, Sawyer, and Victoria, all of Wheaton, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Donald R Mason and Robert Mason.
