Ronald E. Lyons, 90, of Moline, Illinois, passed away peacefully September 14, 2022, at River Crossing, Moline.

Cremation rites will be accorded. Services will be held at 15th Avenue Christian Church, 3600 15th Avenue, Rock Island, Saturday, September 17, 2022, at 11:00 am, with a visitation one hour prior, beginning at 10:00 a.m.

Memorials may be made to 15th Avenue Christian Church, Rock Island.

Ron was born March 17, 1932, in Moline, IL, to Roy and Lorene (Nelson) Lyons. He lived his whole life in Moline, graduating from Moline High School and Moline Community College. He married Alice Butcher on August 7, 1954.

Ron retired from Moline National Bank after working there for 35 years. He then enjoyed his retirement and worked part-time for 20 years as a bailiff for Rock Island County.

Ron was a member of 15th Avenue Christian Church where he sang in the choir and served in several leadership roles. Ron loved his church. He was an active member of many community organizations and a lifetime member at Oakwood Country Club, where he enjoyed many rounds of golf. Ron was a die-hard sports fan, with his favorite teams being the Cubs, Bears, The Fighting Illini, and The Moline Maroons. He also enjoyed riding his bike along the Mississippi River, walking at Browning Field, and playing tennis.

Survivors include wife, Alice; daughters: Mona Mlekush, Sandy Schlorf, and Margaret Carroll; grandchildren: Jeremy (Kaley) Mlekush and Janelle Mlekush; eleven great-grandchildren; four sisters: Jeanine Burke, Linda Stein, Marsha Peterson, and Nancy Stevens; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Joel Mlekush.

The family thanks the staff at River Crossing for the loving care provided for Ron during the past five years.
