Ronald D Phillips

Ronald D. Phillips, 76, of Rock Island, IL, died Friday, October 16, 2015, at UnityPoint Trinity West Medical Center in Rock Island. Per his wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. Services will be held on Friday, October 23rd, at 11:00 a.m., at Edgewood Baptist Church, 2704 – 38th Street, Rock Island. A one-hour visitation will take place from 10:00 a.m. until time of the service. Inurnment will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the church. Ron was born in Rock Island on December 2, 1938, son of Nathan and Violet (Atkinson) Phillips. He graduated from Moline High School with the Class of 1956. He was employed as an electrical engineer for Iowa-Illinois Gas & Electric Company, retiring in 1997 after 37 years. On April 19, 1959, in Moline, he married Shirley Davis, who survives. He was a member of the Viking Club in Moline, the Over-the-Hill Gang Coffee Club in Moline, the Loyal Order of the Moose in Homosassa, FL, and the Mississippi Valley Region Antique Automobile Club of America. In addition to his wife, Shirley, survivors include daughters, Stephanie (Al) Bergquist of Sherrard, IL, and Patricia (Allen) Duburg of Engelwood, FL; five grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
