Robert A. Swanson, 82, of Rock Island, IL, died Wednesday, June 15, 2011, at Trinity Rock Island in Rock Island, IL. Per his wishes, the body was cremated. A graveside memorial service will be held Monday, June 20th, at 2:00 p.m., at Barstow Cemetery in Barstow, IL. Wendt Funeral home, Moline, is handling the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family. Robert A. Swanson was born on May 7, 1929, to Paul and Mildred (Hayes) Swanson in Davenport, IA. He married Jaunita Allison in 1946. He owned and operated Swanee's Auto Repair in Rock Island. He was a long-time member of Cornerstone Christian Fellowship in Moline, he enjoyed the outdoors, and he loved to make people laugh. Survivors include: daughters: Sherry Leavell and Connie (Dave) Teuscher, all of Pittsfield, IL; sisters: Judy Bohannon of East Moline, IL, and Greeta Kepple of Barstow, IL; six grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.
