Patricia A. “Patti” Gates, age 88, of Moline, Illinois, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, December 18, 2025.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 27, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. Burial will take place at Memorial Park Cemetery in Rock Island, Illinois.

Patti was born on March 14, 1937, in Moline, Illinois, to Carl and Daisy (Moon) Moeller. On November 18, 1955, she married the love of her life, George Gates. Together they shared many years of marriage until his passing on November 6, 2005.

A woman of quiet faith, Patti was a longtime member of the former Moline Gospel Temple. She found joy in life’s simple pleasures—reading, tending to her beloved rose gardens, and, most of all, spending time with her family. Nothing brought her greater happiness than her grandchildren, whom she cherished deeply. Patti was blessed with twelve grandchildren, twenty-eight great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in her heart.

Patti is lovingly remembered by her children: David (Roni) Gates of Port Byron, Janet (Tim) Kotaska of Moline, and Darren (Brandi) Gates of Milan. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George; her brothers, Jerry Moeller and Larry Moeller; her half-brother, Russ Newham; and her half-sister, Bunny Vroman.
