Mary E. Talbot, of Rock Island, IL, a remarkable woman of strength and devotion, passed away peacefully on June 23, 2026, at Hope Creek in East Moline, IL, at age 97. Born on July 26, 1928, in Hannibal, Missouri, she lived a life full of love and commitment to her family, faith, and community.
Mary was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, dedicating her life to being a homemaker and nurturing her loved ones. She married her beloved husband, Harry, in 1954, and they shared a loving marriage until his passing in 2010. Her interests were varied and deeply personal; she enjoyed crossword puzzles and reading, and she cherished every moment spent with her family. Her faith was a guiding force throughout her life, and she found great joy in singing in the choir at her beloved Community Baptist Church in Andalusia, Illinois, where she was a long-standing member.
Mary was preceded in death by her loving parents; her devoted husband, Harry; her daughters, Mary Vogelsang and Dixie Burgess; her brothers, Everett, Franklin, and Charles Fisher; her granddaughter, Melissa Charlton; and her great-grandson, Tyson Allen. Despite these losses, her spirit remained unyielding, as she was known for being spunky, opinionated, and strong-minded.
She leaves behind her sons, Gary and Rodney Talbot, who will continue to celebrate her legacy, along with her 15 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Her memory will also be cherished by her many nieces and nephews, each carrying a piece of her heart and wisdom.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, June 28, 2026, from 2 pm to 4 pm at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline, Illinois. Funeral services will take place the following day, Monday, June 29, 2026, at 10 am, also at Wendt Funeral Home. Mary will be laid to rest at Chippianock Cemetery in Rock Island, Illinois.
Mary E. Talbot's life was a testament to the power of love, resilience, and faith. Her presence in the lives of those she touched will be profoundly missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of her family and friends forever.
Family and friends are invited to share memories and condolences on her memory page at www.wendtfuneralhome.com.
