Marjorie Scherer, 83, of Rock Island, IL, died Saturday, September 13, 2008, at Oak Glen Home in Coal Valley, IL. Services will be Tuesday, September 16th, at 11:00 a.m. at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline, IL. Visitation will be Tuesday, from 10:00 a.m. until time of the service. Interment will take place at National Cemetery, Arsenal Island, in Rock Island. Memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, or to the Alzheimers Association. Marjorie June Joseph was born May 15, 1925, to David and Marguerite (Jones) Joseph in Chicago, IL. She graduated from Rock Island High School with the Class of 1943. She married Sherman John Scherer on January 1, 1945, in Nyack, NY. She enjoyed crafts, painting, gardening, traveling, and especially her children and grandchildren. Survivors include: her Husband: Sherman Scherer of Rock Island; one daughter: Susan Barbee of Racine, WI; one son: James (Jeanne) Scherer of San Jose, CA; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a brother: Bob Joseph of Moline. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son-in-law: Robert Barbee; a nephew: Daniel Joseph; and former sister-in-law: Alta Joseph.
