Marilyn J. Nance, 76, of Hampton, IL, died Sunday, August 2, 2009, at Aspenwood Health Care Center in Silvis, IL. Visitation will be Wednesday, August 5th, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline, IL. Services will be Thursday, August 6th, at 11:00 a.m., at the funeral home. Burial will be at National Cemetery on Arsenal Island in Rock Island, IL. Marilyn J. Meier was born in Moline on August 29, 1932, to Paul and Hazel (Jasper) Meier. On April 4, 1980, in California, she married Ernest Leo Nance, who preceded her in death May 31, 2001. She was a beautician for 30 years, and a real estate manager in Garden Grove, CA, before retiring in 1999. Survivors include: sons: Fred (Melody) Berry, Jr of Hampton, IL, and Eugene (Tammy) Gettner of Cape Coral, FL; sisters: Dixie Aguirre of Rock Island, and Donna McKinney of Moline; a brother: Don Meier of Rock Island; eleven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters: Bernice Hartman, Eileen Hoffmeier, Dorena McDonald, and Bonnie Strayer; and a brother: Paul Meier.
