Margaret “Peggy” Bruce, aged 85, peacefully passed away on August 10, 2026, at Silvis Center in Silvis, Illinois. Born on October 29, 1940, in Gary, Indiana, Margaret was a beloved mother, sister, and friend who touched the lives of many with her warmth and dedication.

Peggy’s early years were spent in Gary, where she attended Horace Mann High School. After graduating, she began her career at the Illinois Institute of Commerce in Chicago. It was there that she met her devoted husband, William "Bill" Bruce, whom she married on January 27, 1962. Together, they built a loving family and shared a beautiful life until Bill's passing on November 8, 2019.

After starting a family, Peggy embraced her role as a full-time wife and mother with unwavering devotion. Her nurturing spirit extended beyond her home, as she later lent her talents as a secretary at American Family Insurance.

Peggy’s vibrant personality was characterized by her active lifestyle and love for community involvement. She cherished her time swimming at the YMCA and attending local summer concerts in Moline. Known for her energetic spirit, she was always on the go, whether participating in water aerobics or working at Seton School, where she joyfully assisted with lunch for the children.

A faithful member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Moline, Illinois, Peggy was also an active participant in the church's social committee. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, providing her with strength and solace.

Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, George and Mary (Gallagher) Brown; her husband, Bill; and her siblings, Carl, Denis, Barbara, Marilyn, Tim, and Thomas. She is survived by her loving daughter, Linda (Rob Guss) Bruce, and son, Michael Bruce. She also leaves behind her cherished siblings, William (Cathy) Brown, Jean (Pete) Odinsoff, and Jane (Jon) Griffin; brother-in-law, John (Becky) Bruce; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held from 10 am to 11 am on Thursday, August 13, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in the Damien Center, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Moline, Illinois. Interment will take place at Greenview Memorial Gardens in East Moline, Illinois.
