William Lindsay Carroll, 67, of East Moline, IL, passed away Thursday, March 22, 2018, at UnityPoint Trinity West in Rock Island, IL. Per his wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. Services will be held Monday, March 26 th , at 4:00 p.m., at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline, IL, with a two-hour visitation prior to the services beginning at 2:00 p.m. Inurnment will be at National Cemetery on Arsenal Island in Rock Island on June 8th. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, or to Quad City Animal Welfare Center in Milan, IL. Lindsay Carroll was born in East Moline on June 9, 1950, son of Taylor and Edith (Wilburham) Carroll. In Rock Island, on September 12, 1998, he married Margaret Lyons, who survives. After graduating from United Township High School in East Moline, Lindsay served his country in the U.S. Marine Corp, stationed in San Diego, CA. He was employed as a Rock Island County Deputy Sheriff, and then became an officer for the East Moline Police Department. Later he worked refitting mini-vans with chairlifts for wheelchairs, and then was employed by Murphy Brothers until his much loved retirement in 2013. Lindsay was a car enthusiast and enjoyed being a Florida Snow Bird, where he spent time re-building golf carts. In addition to his wife, Margaret, survivors include two nephews, Kerry (LeeAnn) Karlix of McKinney, TX, and Keven (Susan) Karlix of Davenport, IA, and his faithful companion, their dog “Toots”. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, June Karlix, and a nephew, Christopher Karlix.
