Lauri Nelson, 80, of Moline, passed away peacefully Sunday, April 3, 2022, at home, surrounded by her family.

Visitation will be Thursday, April 7, 2022, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline, IL. Services will be Friday, April 8, 2022, at 11:00 am at Wendt Funeral Home, Moline, IL. Burial will be in Rock Island National Cemetery, Rock Island, IL.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.

Lauri was born March 29, 1942, in Harlan, KY, the daughter of Lee Roy and Cora (Thomas) Eldridge. She married William Nelson on June 12, 1964, in East Moline, IL, who survives.

Lauri was proud and happy to have dedicated her life to being a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Her enjoyments included gardening, singing, songwriting, and cooking; she was well known for her biscuits and gravy. She also volunteered for the American Red Cross. However, her biggest joy in life was her children and grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, William Nelson; Children: Mike (Melody) Craft, London, KY; Jeff (Lori) Nelson, Moline, Richard (Heidi) Nelson, Taylor Ridge, IL, Bill Darwin (Melissa) Nelson, Moline, Julie (Chris Stewart) Nelson, Sabula, IA, Lisa (Chris) Mason, Hillsdale, IL; Robert Sanderson, Moline, Jorden (Katherine) Nelson, Port Byron, IL; sisters, MaryLou Killion, Donna Stines, Sherry Randall, Barbara Hampton; brothers, Ralph and Jimmy Eldridge along with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Raymond, Jerry, and Ballard; a sister, Cindy, a great-grandson, Gabriel Mumma, and nephew Travis Eldridge.
