Lanny Eddie Wright, a beloved husband, father, cherished grandfather, and friend, passed from this world on June 30, 2025, at Unity Point in Rock Island, Illinois. Born on April 20, 1943, in Ogden, Utah, Lanny lived a life rich with love, humor, and the joy of family. His journey through life was one filled with purpose, marked by dedication to both his profession and his beloved family.

For fifty years, Lanny owned and operated Wright Home Improvement, where his artistry and skill were only surpassed by his charisma. He dedicated himself daily to transforming homes while cultivating connections throughout the community. His infectious sense of humor and warm disposition meant that he never met a stranger without striking up a delightful conversation.

Lanny was an avid golfer, having begun his passion at the young age of twelve in the picturesque Utah Canyon. He participated in numerous tournaments and was known for his winning streaks, demonstrating a competitive spirit that was always coupled with good-natured fun. His engaging personality made golf not only a sport but also a cherished social gathering, where laughter and camaraderie were paramount.  He was also an avid car lover.

After a brief illness, Lanny ascended into heaven, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and strong connections. As family and friends gather to celebrate his life, they will remember a devoted father, a loving grandfather, and a friend whose spirit was as grand as the mountains he adored.

A proud veteran of the United States Army, Lanny served from 1962 to 1964 in the Republic of Panama, where he not only fulfilled his duty but also found his first love, Martina Murgas, whom he married on December 23, 1963. Together, they welcomed three wonderful children: Johnny, Cindy, and Michael. Lanny's dedication to fatherhood was unwavering, and he considered his children to be his proudest accomplishments.

Lanny later found love again and married Roberta DeWaal in November 1984, further expanding his heart and family. He leaves behind his beloved wife,  Roberta, and his two surviving children, Cindy Wright Andrews (Scott) and Michael Wright, as well as his treasured grandchildren—Amanda Pilcher (Jacob), Trae Schick, Emily Wright, and Michael John (Kelsey)—who brought boundless joy into his life. Lanny was also a proud great-grandfather to Atlas Wright and Nolan Wright of Colorado, as well as Henry James Pilcher of Des Moines, Iowa.  He also leaves behind his adored and loved stepdaughters, Michelle DeWaal (her son Geoff, who worked with Lanny for many years), Yvonne Siddique (Laulak), Yvette Buckley (Bobby), and Janine Fox (Sheldon), as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  His legacy of love continues to flourish through these cherished relationships.

Lanny is also survived by his siblings, Garry Wright (Carol) of Utah, Cordell Wright of Texas, Jerome Wright of Montana, and his loving sisters, Connie Morgan and FraLane Mitchell (Randy) both of Utah. He was profoundly loved by many, and his absence will undoubtedly leave a void felt by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

A visitation will be held at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline, Illinois, on July 7, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 1:00 p.m. Lanny will then be laid to rest at the Rock Island National Cemetery at 2:00 PM, where he will find eternal peace.
