Inez Kathleen Gustafson, 95, East Peoria formerly of Moline, IL, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 2, 2024, at Methodist Medical Center, Peoria, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm, preceded by a visitation at noon, on Thursday, March 7, 2024, at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline. Burial will follow at Rock Island National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Answers in Genesis, 25 Atlantic Ave., Erlanger, KY 41018.

Inez was born February 21, 1929, in Osakis, MN, to Casper and Edith Duklet and later adopted by Charles and Clara (Aasen) Rieff. She married Merriam Lee Gustafson on December 1, 1951, in Minneapolis.

Inez was a graduate of West High School in Minnesota and later attended classes at Black Hawk College. She worked at North West National Bank and C.P. Fitting.

Inez loved children of all ages, and was a woman of profound faith. She nurtured young souls with devotion, hosting a weekly Kids Bible Club in her Richfield, MN home and guiding the Pioneer Girls Club at Bethel Church. In every church she graced, Inez taught Sunday School, Children's Church, and Vacation Bible School. She found joy in birdwatching and singing. An avid solver of crossword puzzles, she found delight in the intricacies of words and was skilled in the art of handcrafts, and cherished moments playing cards and board games with her family.

Survivors include her children: Sheryl (Dorman) Martin Brampton, Ontario, Canada; Steven (Marites) Gustafson, Milwaukee, WI; Alan (Jana) Gustafson, Abilene, TX, Kathleen Gauwitz, Peoria, IL, and Gregory (Sheila) Gustafson, Arden, NC; thirteen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and brother-in-law, Roger (Bonnie) Gustafson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, daughter, Sandra Ellen, parents, and her siblings.
