Giovante Donavon Boyd, affectionately known as "G," was born on March 26, 1993, in Rock Island and passed away on July 11, 2025, in Peoria, IL. A loving son, devoted fiancé, cherished brother, and loyal friend, G touched the lives of everyone who had the fortune of knowing him. He graduated from Moline High School in 2011, after which he dedicated himself to his passion for construction, successfully completing an apprenticeship program at Black Hawk College. He later worked for MercyOne Genesis, where he was proud to contribute his skills in service to others.
G’s heart was as big as his spirit. He was a man of tenacity and love, dedicated not only to his family but to all those he encountered. Patricia Rios, his beloved fiancée, beautifully expressed their bond, stating that Giovante was not just the love of her life, but her very life itself. "Giovante was a man unheard of these days," she wrote, capturing the essence of his character—his unwavering commitment to care for family, friends, and anyone in need. He offered solid advice with honesty and sincerity, never sugarcoating his words, a trait that endeared him to many.
Known for his relentless hustle, G dreamed big and brought those dreams to life. He was always seeking ways to improve himself and start new ventures, ensuring that his loved ones never lacked anything. He was stubborn and determined, embodying the resolve to pursue his aspirations with fervor, yet tempered by a delightful sense of humor that brought laughter and joy to those around him. G was known for his comedic timing, often cracking jokes that brought smiles without malice, illustrating his playful disposition and love for life.
To know G is to love G, and his genuine affection for everyone he met was a guiding spirit in his life. He inspired those around him to strive for greatness, holding them up and pushing them to be better versions of themselves. He was a constant source of strength and motivation, proving to be an anchor for many during life's storms.
G is survived by his loving parents, Tara Boyd and Lonza Martin, siblings Raven Boyd and her son Donaven, Lonza "LJ" Wommack with his children Olivia, Aria, and Nya, Shasneke Martin with her children AaNique, KazMier, SaMoni, and Kamarion, Lona Martin and her children Taylen, Taliah, and Nova, Stephon Martin, LaDawn Martin, and LaMaury Martin, Tyaisa Williams and her son Rolan. His dear grandmother, Sandra Boyd, and a multitude of aunts and uncles—Sonya, Yvette, Kimberly, Tami, Annie, Mary, Mattie Kay, John, Alphonse, James, Jimmy, Kevin, and Stephen—stand alongside his bonus sister, Kendra, and her children, Treyvon, Ethean, and Aari. He is also remembered by many cousins and special friends who were touched by his warmth and generous spirit.
Although he leaves behind a longing void with his passing, the love that G shared with those around him will continue to resonate in their hearts forever. He is preceded in death by his grandmother, Earnestine Martin.
G leaves behind not just memories but a legacy of love, laughter, and undeniable strength that will inspire all to move forward, living life to its fullest in his honor.
