Gary L. Bonggren, 84, of Moline, IL, died Friday, February 20, 2015, at UnityPoint-Trinity West in Rock Island, IL. Per his wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. There will be no visitation. A private burial will be held at a later date at National Cemetery on Arsenal Island in Rock Island, where military rites will be provided by American Legion Post 246 of Moline. Memorials may be made to First Christian Church, Moline. Gary was born in Moline on February 17, 1931, to Walter and Esther (Holmes) Bonggren. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, and retired from the Rock Island Arsenal after many years of civil service. Gary has no direct descendants as he never married or had children, and he was an only child.
