Elizabeth A Erickson, age 98, longtime resident of Rock Island, IL, died Aug. 15, 2007, at Avonlea Cottage in Milan, IL. Private graveside services and burial were held at Moline Memorial Park Cemetery, arranged by Wendt Funeral Home, Moline, IL. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 736 Federal St., Davenport, IA 52803, or to a favorite charity. The former Elizabeth Anna Schuldt was born in Andalusia, IL on Nov. 11, 1908, the daughter of William Jacob Henry and Vallie Hulda Marie (Heinze) Schuldt. She graduated from high school in Garrison, ND, attended Minot State Teachers College, Minot, ND, and taught school in Douglas, ND. She married Joseph G. Erickson at Memorial Heights United Methodist Church, Rock Island, IL, June 1, 1929, and they became members the following year. She was a member for 76 years until, sadly, the church closed it's doors in 2006. An active member, she had been church treasurer and Sunday school teacher, and sung in the church choir. She was president of the Advance Class for a number of years and was active in United Church Women. She was judge of elections of Ward 9 for a number of years. She was a member of Eastern Star Lodge 269, was chaplain for two years, and received her 50-year pin in 1993. Elizabeth had many hobbies, especially taking great joy in quilting, all kinds of needlework, china painting and ceramics. She mastered the fine art of baking and cooking to the delight of the many friends and family who gathered at her table. Each of her grandchildren could expect a very special birthday cake on their birthday, and were never disappointed. Survivors include: her son, Gary J. (Sharon) Erickson of Rock Island; three grandchildren: Kim (Andrew) Regan of Cheshire, England; Joe M. (Dawn) Erickson of East Moline, IL; and Lisa (John) O'Brien of St.Paul, MN; two great-grandchildren: Sarah Elizabeth and Jonathon Edmond Regan, both of Cheshire, England; and a sister, Marion D. Jorgensen of Dacula, GA. She was precided in death by her husband, her parents, two brothers: Willis H. and Charles E. Schuldt; and three sisters: Margarethe M. Kohls, Vallie M. Daniels, and Marjorie J. Current. The family wishes to express heartfelt thanks to the staff of Avonlea Cottage for providing such loving care of her these past four years.
