Charlotte Buller Maurhoff, a remarkable woman whose life was an embodiment of grace, intellect, and passion, passed away on February 9, 2026, at Friendship Manor in Rock Island, Illinois, on what would have been her 92nd birthday. Born on February 9, 1934, in Moline, Illinois, she charmed all who crossed her path with her quick wit and spirited presence.

A woman of many talents, Charlotte dedicated her professional life to academia and consultancy. As an adjunct professor of management at Western Illinois University's Rock Island Regional Undergraduate Center in Moline, she inspired countless students and business professionals with her profound knowledge and approachable demeanor. Her career was marked by a commitment to excellence, having risen through the secretarial ranks to hold prestigious management positions. Notably, she served as president of Management Service Associates, providing invaluable management consulting and training services across the continental United States, Hawaii, and even internationally in Germany, Korea, and Japan. Her advocacy for women's rights was evident through her participation in the march for the Equal Rights Amendment in Washington, DC, and her leadership as president of the Quad Cities chapter of the National Organization for Women.

Charlotte's academic pursuits were grounded in solid foundations; she attained her undergraduate degree from Augustana College and furthered her education with a master's degree from St. Ambrose University. Beyond her professional accomplishments, she had a profound love for the arts, enjoying evenings at the Quad Cities Symphony and performances by Circa, often with her beloved husband, William, who preceded her in death on November 10, 2022. Charlotte brought joy and warmth to many as the hostess extraordinaire, delighting in entertaining family and friends.

Charlotte's personality was a kaleidoscope of vibrant attributes. With a beautiful singing voice, she effortlessly made everyone around her feel cherished and valued. Friends, family, and even strangers found comfort in her presence, as she consistently highlighted the good within each person. Her ability to give undivided attention made every interaction meaningful.

She shared her journey through life with beloved family members, including her sister, Janet Gleason of Murrieta, California, and a host of nieces and nephews who will carry forth her legacy. Among them are Jeannie Alexander of Fortville, Indiana; Kelly (Tripp) Gordon of Palm Springs, California; Sana Swatkowski of Moline, Illinois; Jenny (Mark) Briney of Browning, Illinois; Andrea (Scott) Knoob of Costa Mesa, California; Beth (Tim) McCarthy of Shorewood, Illinois; Ted (Alicia) Gleason of Mission Viejo, California; and Ryan (Dawn) Gleason of Riverside, California. Additionally, she is survived by stepchildren Kim (Scott) Brown of Westmoreland, New Hampshire; Amy (Kenneth) Hood of Massachusetts; Margaret (John) Barney of Marlow, New Hampshire; and Keith (Jennifer) Maurhoff of Nashua, New Hampshire.

Preceding Charlotte in death were her parents, Charles and Dorothy (Ballard) Buller; her beloved husband, William Maurhoff; her sister Katy Rannow; her brothers, Charles and Dale Buller; and her niece, Shelley Rivadeneyra.
