Registry for Bobbie Simpson

Bobbie G. Simpson, 86, Moline, passed away on Sunday, February 5, 2023, at Friendship Manor, Rock Island, IL.

A funeral service will be Friday, February 10, 2023, at 12 pm, with a visitation before the service from 10 am - 12 pm at Wendt Funeral Home, Moline. Burial will be in Rock Island National Cemetery.

Bobbie was born in St. Louis to Paul and Mary (Stevens) Simpson. Bobbie began his career in cooking when he was 16 years of age at the Plantation restaurant in Moline. After learning the basics, he got a job as a sous chef at Eugene's in Milwaukee, WI, and it was there that he learned to create and prepare fine recipes. He developed a love for food and ways to make it taste better.

He then moved back to the Quad Cities and built, owned, and operated the Factory Restaurant in Orion, IL. In the early 80s, he sold the restaurant and managed several other places in the area.

He loved cooking, serving, and creating food for his family, friends, and customers. He created, made, and sold salad dressings and seasonings that were enjoyed by many, and he never lost his passion for preparing and enjoying fine food. He attributed his talent for cooking to his mother. His other enjoyments included golfing and flying planes.

The family would like to thank Bonnie Dopler and the kind nurses at Friendship Manor.

Survivors include his sons, Mike Simpson and Steve Simpson, Moline; Step-son, Dan (Tiffany) Licata; grandchildren, Skye Lortz Simpson and Bretta Golden, Nicholas, Nathan, and Joshua Licata; sister, Glenda Simler, Moline; ten nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters JoElla Skeel, Ruth Simpson, and Carolyn Kay, and brothers Paul, Kenneth, Harold, and Jerold.

Memorials may be made to the family.

Family and friends are invited to share memories and express condolences on his Memory Wall at wendtfuneralhome.com.
