Betty A. Park, 78, from Moline, IL, on May 16, 2025, left us to go and dance with the angels. She passed away at Trinity Hospital in Muscatine, IA, surrounded by her loved ones. We will be having a Celebration of Life on May 31st from 4 pm to 7 pm at Riverfront Grill, 4619 34th Street, Rock Island, IL. Please stop by and share your stories of Betty, or just hang out with her family and friends.
Betty was the daughter of Murrell “Bud” Ausmus and Maybelle Zeldorf Ausmus, born September 26, 1946. In 1966 she married Harry R. Park in Rock Island, IL, she is survived by her spouse along with her two children Julie (Les) Gibboney, John Park (Julie Moran), and her beloved grandson Wyatt Gibboney, her brother Jim (Sheila) Ausmus along with their two daughters Melissa (Brian) Lear, Shelly (Ryan) Lee and their children.
Betty never met anyone she didn’t like; she was friends with everyone, a beautiful soul. Do you remember the house that all the kids played at every day after school and all weekends? It was ours, our Mom shared her love with all our friends. She would pile all the kids up in our family car and take us all to Longview Park for a spontaneous picnic and fun day at the park. She is also the mom who would take all the kids on an adventure to Cry Baby Bridge in Monmouth, IL, and put baby powder on the back bumper to look for the handprints. She taught us how to be compassionate and caring. She took us to bowling, roller skating, ice skating, and 4-H art classes. If one of our friends didn’t have the money to go, she would find it, even if she had to do without. Our mother was one of a kind and will be greatly missed by all of us.
Her favorite job was teacher’s assistant and lunch lady at Audubon Elementary School in Rock Island, IL. It allowed her to be with us and our friends and help with things we needed, and let her connect with others on a different level. She tried her best in everything she did, and that’s a life lesson she taught us that no one can take away.
Our mother, Betty, was one of the strongest women I have ever known, and probably ever will. She moved with dad to Texas after she had a stroke 35 years ago and built a life for them there. She met a beautiful family, the Lozano’s whom she made a part of her family, she was grandma to them. Thank you, Maria, Sergio, Annie, Grace, and Victor. You guys were a blessing from above, you welcomed her with open arms into your family, I know Grandma sure loved you guys.
Please take a moment and hug your loved one, one extra time for her. One of her favorite sayings: Tell someone you love them today, because tomorrow is never promised.
In lieu of flowers, and gifts memorials may be made to the family. Online condolences may be left at wendtfuneralhome.com.
