Veronica Pauline Alice Dore

April 25, 1941 — May 7, 2015

Veronica “Ronnie” Dore, 74, of Moline, IL, passed away Thursday, May 7, 2015, at her home. Services will be Wednesday, May 13th, at 2:00 pm, at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline, with a two-hour visitation from noon until time of the service. Burial will be at National Cemetery on Arsenal Island, Rock Island, IL. Veronica Pauline Alice Dore, “Ronnie”, born April 25, 1941, in Wellingborough, England, to Francis and Elizabeth Turiccki. Veronica attended school in England, and soon after, immigrated to California in 1968. She met the love of her life poolside, Gerald “Jerry” Dore. They moved to Illinois and married on May 25, 1972, in Joliet, IL. Ronnie loved working in the nursing field. She retired in 1987 to babysit her grandchildren, and once they were old enough to attend school, Ronnie and Jerry decided to become snowbirds. They made friends wherever they went, which was to Surprise, AZ, Punta Gorda, FL, and Las Vegas, NV. Ronnie was a talented billiards player for the Las Palmas Pool Club in Arizona, and she also made cross-stitch masterpieces. She enjoyed crosswords and puzzles, and loved to crochet outfits for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. After all their travels together, Jerry and Ronnie settled in Silvis, IL. She was known by many to light-up a room, always making people smile with her British sense of humor. She loved to watch the Chicago Bears, and adopted many rescued dogs. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the wonderful people who took such good care of Ronnie in the last few months; the staff at The Lighthouse in Silvis, especially Afi, Sheila, Brandi, and Ty; the Heartland Hospice staff, her dear caregiver for the last month, Ann Schneider, and dear family friends, Debi Herbers and Wendy Kuhlig. Survivors include: daughters, Tina (John) Lassuy of Moline, and Donna Montefusco of Naperville, IL; sisters, Gwen (John) Muhlig of Warrington, PA, and Margaret Howard of England; brother, Tony (Dominica) Turiccki, of England; sisters-in-law, Phyllis (Richard) Duffner of Plainfield, IL, and Carol (William) Krause of Quincy, IL; grandchildren, Rachel (Aaron)Forsberg of Olathe, KS, Sarah, and Marco Montefusco of Lockport, IL, Shadd Lassuy and Dustin (Michele) Lassuy of Orlando, FL, and Faith Markin of Moline; great-grandchildren, Hadley Forsberg and Hope Markin; and many loved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.
