Robert A. "Bob" Diehl, 87, of Moline, IL, died Wednesday, January 30, 2008, at Trinity Medical Center West in Rock Island, IL. Robert A. Diehl was born on June 9, 1920, to Ray and Eleanor (Osborn) Diehl in Morrison, IL. He married Eleanor Lenc on June 27, 1943, in East Moline, IL. Bob proudly served on PT boats in the U.S. Navy during WWII, as a Motor Machinist Mate 2nd Class in the Philipines. He retired in 1981, as General Foreman in the Tool Room at I. H. Farmall Works in Rock Island, after 38-1/2 years with the company. He was a member of First Congregational Church in Moline; the Farmall Managerial Retirees Club; American Legion Post #246; Moline Elks Lodge; and P.T. Boats, Inc. He was a Cub Master, and a baseball coach, at Logan School; and served as a leader in Indian Guides, and in Junior Achievement. Visitation will be held Sunday, February 3rd, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 4th, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Moline Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to First Congregational Church, Moline, IL or a charity of your choice. In addition to his wife, Eleanor, survivors include: a daughter: Linda (Rick) Roman of San Rafael, CA.; two sons: Ray (Edwina) Diehl of Crown Point, IN, and Robert (Stephanie) Diehl of Littleton, CO; a sister: Evelyn (Carl) Fuelston of Manchester, IA.; six grandchildren; three great-granddaughters; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Helen.
