Denzil Peterson

Denzil "Pete" Peterson, 90, of Moline, IL, formerly of Orion, IL, died Wednesday, July 2, 2008, at Heartland Health Care Center in Moline. Denzil L. Peterson was born on July 20, 1917, to Bert and Violet Swanson Peterson, in Orion. He married Helen Ondrof on September 8, 1952 in Moline. Pete was an Army veteran of WWII. He was a Service Technition for Sears Roebuck Company for 32 years, retiring in 1978, and was a member of Salem Lutheran Church in Moline, American Legion Post 246 in Moline, and the Moline VFW. He was a devoted husband and father, and will be sadly missed. Visitation will be Sunday, July 6th, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Wendt Funeral Home in Moline. Services will be held Monday, July 7th, at 11:00 a.m., at Salem Lutheran Church in Moline. Burial will be at National Cemetery on Arsenal Island in Rock Island, IL. Memorials may be made to Salem Lutheran Church in Moline. In addition to his wife, Helen, he is survived by: a son, William Peterson of Moline; and three sisters: Arlene Almquist and Carol Capel of Orion, and Jean Kohls of Moline. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and three sisters.
