Isabelle J Gordon

Isabelle Gordon, 85, of Moline, IL, died Friday, March 1, 2013, at her home.

Services will be Wednesday, March 6th, at 11:00 a.m., at First Christian Church, 1826 - 16th Street, Moline, with a two-hour visitation from 9:00 a.m. until time of the service. Per her wishes, cremation rites will then be accorded. Inurnment will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens in Silvis, IL.

Memorials may be made to Wee Care Day Care in Moline.

Isabelle J. Smarr was born in Trenton, MO, on March 31, 1927, to Melville and Josephine (Mulford) Smarr. She attended Augustana College in Rock Island, IL. On June 2, 1945, in Moline, she married Allen L. Gordon, Sr, who preceded her in death October 29, 1955.

She was a secretary at Black Hawk College in Moline for 20 years, retiring in 1990. She was a member of First Christian Church, where she was Elder Emeritus, and was active in several church groups. She was Vice President of the County Youth Center, and for 21 years, she was the Chairman of Citizens Advisory Council on Urban Policy.

Survivors include: three sons: Allen (Rosemary) Gordon, Jr of Washington state, Daniel (Joanne) Gordon of Moline, and Melville (Lavonne) Gordon of Pennsylvania; grandchildren: Samantha, Melissa, Christian, Danielle, Michelle, Thomas, Teresa, Patrick, and Robert; and twenty great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and a daughter-in-law Delpha Gordon.
