Stanley Richard Williams

U.S. Veteran

Stanley R. Williams, 70, of Moline, IL, passed away Monday, February 25, 2013, at his home.

Stanley R. Williams was born in Moline, IL, on August 15, 1942, to James and Opal (Bever) Williams. On June 1, 1996, in Bullhead, AZ, he married Sharon Davis, who survives.

He graduated with the East Moline UTHS Class of 1960, and attended Blackhawk College in Moline. He served in the U.S. Army from 1961 until 1964, and was a sharpshooter, a member of the competition shooting team, and a general supply specialist. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, and reading. He retired from Deere & Company in August of 2001, after 37 years.

In addition to his wife, Sharon, survivors include, sons: Bill Davis and Allen Davis; grandchildren: Jami (Chris) Gordon, Adrianne (David) LaGrange, and Aaaron Davis; great-grandchildren: Lexi Gordon, Carter, Keira, and Colton LaGrange, and Ashton Davis; and a brother: Dr. Charles (Donna) Williams.

A special thanks to best friend Jan Krueger of Silvis, IL. Also thank-you to Stan's driver in his final years, Mrs. Kenneth (Diane) Stenger of Carbon Cliff, IL.

Per his wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. A Celebration of Life, to share stories and memories of Stan, will be held Saturday, March 9th, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., at the VFW, 1721 - 7th Street in Moline. Wendt Funeral Home of Moline, is assisting the family with the arrangements.
